A QR code sticker for your bike
A message from a finder or a neighbour, without sharing your number.
Your bike spends its day outside: at the station, on the pavement or in a bike shed. Sometimes someone needs to reach you about it. A TagTalk QR code on the frame makes that possible without putting your phone number on the bike.
The short definition
A QR code on your bike opens a private message page. Whoever scans it can message you without seeing your phone number. It is not a tracker: it does not show where your bike is.
When someone needs to reach you about your bike
Your bike is blocking an exit, the light is still on, the lock is open or it has fallen over. Or someone finds your bike after it went missing. In each case it helps if that person can tell you what is going on, without a note that blows away.
Why your number does not belong on your bike
A label with your phone number can be read by everyone who walks past. It can be copied and reused for spam or unwanted calls. With a TagTalk QR code, the sender only sees a message page. Your phone number and email address stay hidden.
How it works
Someone scans the QR code with their phone camera and writes a message in the browser. No app or account is needed. You read the message in your TagTalk dashboard and reply in the same conversation. You also choose whether you want a notification by email, push, WhatsApp or SMS.
Printing a tag that lasts outside
Choose the Lost & Found design and print the PDF on waterproof vinyl sticker paper, or laminate it before you attach it. Print at 100% scale so the QR code keeps its size, and scan it with your own phone before you stick it on the frame.
What a QR code does not do
A QR code is not a tracker and does not prevent theft. It does not show where your bike is. It does give an honest finder or a helpful passer-by an easy way to contact you. Keep using a good lock and write down your frame number.
Also for e-bikes, scooters and cargo bikes
The same tag works on an e-bike, scooter, cargo bike or trailer. Especially with more expensive vehicles, it helps that people can reach you without your contact details being visible to everyone.
Can a finder contact me without my phone number?
Yes. Whoever scans the QR code sends a message through the TagTalk message page. Your phone number and email address are not shown there.
Is a QR code a GPS tracker?
No. TagTalk does not show where your bike is. It gives someone who sees or finds your bike a way to send you a message.
How do I make the tag weatherproof?
Print the PDF on waterproof vinyl sticker paper or laminate the print, then attach it to a clean, dry part of the frame. Test the QR code after printing.
Does the sender need an app?
No. A phone camera and a browser are enough to scan the QR code and send a message.
